Overview
This training is directed specifically at Teaching Assistants and is suitable for all key stages so their practice supports quality first teaching in the classroom. This support from teaching assistants will enable teachers teaching Maths to make a real difference supporting all children who struggle including SEND/EAL/disadvantaged and those who have fallen behind as a result of Covid.
What you will learn
The day consists of four sessions:
1. The importance of counting – to develop the understanding of building blocks of Maths from counting and how to use the four modes of calculation.
2. Exploring Maths resources – take a look at best practice. How to use models and concrete apparatus to develop children's conceptual learning.
3. Explore how language is used - to help children explore mathematical concepts.
4. How these are applied - to the structures of the four modes of calculation
Who is it for?
Suitable for all Teaching Assistants in any key stages.

Pippa Birchill
Pippa is a primary school teacher with 29 years experience and has taught in all years. For the past 13 years she has been an accredited Numbers Count teacher.
